The Air Filter
The type of air filter in your car will depend on the carburettor. In any case, is easy to get to as it sits right on the very top of the engine. It should be the first thing you remove and the last thing you put back.
My 2.0 litre LASER has the box type air filter.
Remove the entire housing from the car by unscrewing the two large cross head screws.
The filter is accessed by undoing all the clips on the box and separating the two halves. Replace the air filter every 12,000 miles; it is a good idea to write the mileage and date on the filter to jog your memory next time.
